  • About the Jay Hatcher Memorial Resource Library

The Jay Hatcher Memorial Resource Library was dedicated at a ceremony in 2005 in memory of Abilene Police Detective Jay Hatcher. Detective Hatcher was killed in a gas pipeline explosion in 2000. He was Interim President of RVCC at the time of his death.

Jay Hatcher was not only a skilled and dedicated crime solver, but he was also a passionate advocate for victims of violent crime. As a detective with the Abilene Police Department, Jay was unrelenting in going after the criminal. As a Board Member and Officer of Regional Crime Victim Crisis Center, Jay was equally unrelenting in providing the best quality and scope in services and assistance to victims and survivors.

He wanted RVCC's counselors to have access to the latest innovations, research and techniques for helping crime victims recover from their trauma. The Jay Hatcher Memorial Resources library provides that state of the art information for RVCC's licensed therapists. Materials and resources for the library are funded with gifts to the Jay Hatcher Fund.

Jay's family is active with RVCC and continues to support his vision and the mission of RVCC.
